PSK – The story behind it
PSK – The story behind it
It all started with a simple problem: honey-caked hands, soggy hive books, and a smartphone that was best left untouched while holding propolis. None of the known documentation methods were particularly practical when working with a bee colony.
This led us to develop the Pin Stock Map (PSK) – a robust, weatherproof tool that works even with gloves and sticky fingers. The idea: all important information is marked with small pins on a clear map. Fast, easy, and reliable.
From the first attempts at making stickers and diabolo pins to today's UV-resistant professional version, it's been an exciting journey. Even the first tests with beekeeping associations showed that with the PSK, a bee colony can be documented six times faster than with conventional methods.
In parallel, we developed the PSK Beekeeping app, which digitizes every card and creates a complete history of the bee colonies. This combines the best of both worlds: practical work at the apiary and digital analysis in the office .
PSK is run by two friends: Marco Ringel , a teacher, author, and creative mind, and Christoph Ludwig , a master carpenter, craftsman, and shipping professional. Together, we built a company from an idea at the beehive that is now well-known in many European countries and beyond.
Our motto:
“The coolest way to document a bee colony.”
And our vision: to make life easier for beekeepers all over the world.
